David Ford MLA Minister for Justice visits Sally Gardens

David Ford MLA Minister for Justice visited Sally Gardens on the 29th January 2014 to see and hear first hand the fantastic amount of diverse programmes and range of intervention initiatives particularly the work between Colin Safer Neighbourhood Project, youth staff and volunteers. The Minister had the opportunity to hear comments from programme participants and staff.  A big thank you to all that attended including our local MLA Jennifer McCann.

Peace 3 Choices Employability Project

Well done to our employability participants for competing their personal development phase of PEACE III programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the Lisburn-Castlereagh PEACE III Partnership.  The first phase of the project has been both challenging and rewarding with the group now working towards OCR Ready Steady Work.

Department of Justice Criminal Confiscation Funded Project

Once again young people from the Colin area demonstrate their commitment and dedication on completing an intensive eight week drug & alcohol programme.  The community based intervention had been funded through Department of Justice Criminal Confiscation funds.  Twelve young people aged 14-17 attended Sally Gardens each Sunday evening which offered an alternative to hanging around the local area.  The project focused on highlighting the impact drug & alcohol misuse can have on the local community, family and friends.
